Experience Highlights

Kenny has specialized in the real estate and construction industries since 2000. Prior to joining Dauby O’Connor & Zaleski, LLC, he worked for the international public accounting firm Ernst & Young, LLP in their Real Estate, Hospitality, and Construction practice in Indianapolis. At Ernst & Young, LLP, he primarily performed work on a public real estate client, including their related SEC filings, and performed audits of private real estate partnerships. In addition, he performed audits of real estate developments owned by a non-profit organization as required by HUD and served as the Chief Financial Officer of a construction company.

While with DOZ, Kenny’s duties have included working with his clients and engagement teams to coordinate and execute all phases of the audit to ensure that all appropriate deadlines are met and excellent client service is provided. Kenny takes a great deal of pride in creating and growing strong relationships with his clients. He has managed hundreds of audit and agreed upon procedure engagements for owners and managers of affordable housing complexes that receive financing or other subsidies from HUD, RD, or equity as a result of the generation of the LIHTC. Kenny also oversees the audit engagements of over 25 syndicated LIHTC funds and several not-for- profit organizations that collectively hold interests in over 200 affordable housing entities. Kenny spends a great deal of time not only ensuring that he delivers on client expectations, but also ensuring his engagements adhere to generally accepted auditing standards, applicable government regulations, and firm policies. In fact, Kenny spent several years as a champion for several firm quality initiatives. Kenny also has significant experience with projects in the pre-development and construction stages and currently manages the annual audit engagement of a large construction company.

Kenny significantly exceeds the required annual minimums of continuing professional education for CPA’s in public practice by obtaining pertinent education in complex accounting, auditing, and Government Auditing Standards topics. This education is often sponsored by various organizations, including the Indiana CPA Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, Kenny often leads in-house continuing professional education for firm professionals on accounting and auditing trends and topics affecting our engagements.
